My newest obsession is the pineapple. Not only do I find them adorable, but I love what they symbolize...hospitality. I may live in a one bedroom apartment, but friends and family are always welcome to drop by. I love hosting guests and making new friends. Now wrap that all up into one ideal and you get the pineapple. See why I'm in love? Not to mention that they taste pretty great too. So here are some pineapple inspired beauties that I'm loving right now.

July Budget: A Month of Accessories
So because of my metal allergies, I am limited in purchasing fashion jewelry. J Crew is one place that I have found where my skin doesn't get irritated, but they can be a bit pricey. So when J Crew Factory had it's July sales, I couldn't resist.

Lovely Lashes: They're (mostly) Real!
As much of an advocate as I am of loving yourself and all your faults, realistically every girl has something they wouldn't mind changing about themselves. For me, it's my eyelashes. I seriously have the shortest skimpiest eyelashes in existence. Ok maybe, I'm being overdramatic, but even hubby's lashes are longer than mine. Because I don't have the loveliest of lashes, I want them more than anything, but I guess that's how it goes. While I can't miraculously change the lashes I have, I can work with what I've got.

Maxi Skirts & Pumps: Dressing up Casual Style
I have been living in this skirt non-stop from the moment I picked it up. It has been on this blog at least twice already in the past month, but it is just so comfy that I can't help wanting to wear it again and again. My only qualm with this skirt is that it's limited to weekend wear. Or is it? I've never thought of maxi skirts as anything other than summer casual, so it never occurred to me to try to style them another way. My dental school dress code is business casual, but we are definitely on the looser end of things. So I decided to see if I could pull off a maxi skirt.

Faux Pas
Don't you just love it when an outfit comes together with little to no effort? This is an OOTD from this past weekend and I loved it so much that I just might have to do an exact outfit repeat. I know! Total fashion faux pas, but I like to live life dangerously.

Tybee Island
We planned a beach trip for the day, but the weather is preventing that. So instead, I get to spend the entire day studying pharmacology. You know, fun stuff like memorizing drug names and learning the side effects. I actually will be better off this way, but to give myself a little break I decided to write this post about my last trip to the ocean. Lucky for me it wasn't all that long ago. When hubby and I were in Savannah last week, we went to Tybee Island Beach.
It was a about a 30 minute drive from Savannah, which we didn't mind at all because the scenery along the way was so beautiful. We drove past plenty of marsh lands and cabbage palm trees. It was all so picturesque, but I think my favorite part was the salt in the air. Not only could you smell it, but you could taste it. I have never experienced that before so I knew instantly that this would be a beach trip unlike any other.
Most people our age wouldn't bother with beach gear, but we wanted to be comfortable. Aside from grabbing a beach umbrella to protect me from sun poisoning (I get it almost every year), we had beach chairs and a cooler. The cooler was essential as we filled it with bottled water, fresh fruit, and a few beers of course. It was so nice laying in the shade of the umbrella, eating watermelon and pineapple slices while sipping on cold drinks.
As my pathetic attempt at a sandcastle failed miserably, I was super impressed with this alligator that someone made. It reminded me of the delicious gator bites that hubby and I had earlier in our trip.
I so wish that I could be laying out at Tybee Beach right now, or any beach for that matter. I don't know if I will have time to escape on the upcoming weekends. And I still have over a month yet before my next school break. Thankfully, I have a fun trip planned for then as well. Happy Weekend Everyone!

Historic Greens
If you are getting burnt out on hearing about my Savannah trip, I apologize but I can't help but want to share. Plus, this was my first real summer vacation in years. Not to mention that I don't get very much time off from dental school so I'm trying to make it last for as long as possible. So please humor me. If, on the other hand you love Savannah as much as I do...this one is for you.
First thing in the morning, we grabbed some praline flavored coffee at the Gallery Expresso and headed for Forsyth Park. Such a beautiful place full of lush greenery. And as an extra bonus, we ran into the bird lady. Hubby was brave enough to take on all four at once.
After Forstyh Park, we headed over to Wormsloe Historic Site. It was breathtaking, definitely one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been. When you first enter the property, there is a beautiful long lane of Oaks with Spanish moss. While in Savannah, I fell in love with these trees. I so enjoy seeing the landscaping of historic homes so this was an added treat. In addition to the spiraling gardens of Versailles or the ivy climbing the walls of Tuscan villas, now I can add the gorgeous oak lined drive at Wormsloe Historic Site to my favorites list of landscaped homes.
