misty fjord

fjord: a long, narrow inlet of the Sea between high cliffs

As a girl who loves her nature, is always looking for a mountain to climb, a new place of harmony to traverse...I have always wanted to venture to a fjord. Mountains that are literally popping up right out of the sea, no one could dream up a place as glorious as this, yet it exists.

Fjords are a rare natural wonder carved out by the erosion of ice glaciers churning with the salt of the sea. And unless you happen to live in Norway or Iceland, fjords may be foreign to you. While I knew of them, I never imagined I would have the opportunity to adventure through one. Lucky for us, Alaska is one of the few places that you can find fjords in the states. We happily escaped the downpour of Ketchikan and hopped on a little boat that steered us out of the rain cloud and into a new world of Misty Fjord.

Misty Fjord is the type of place I will forever dream of. I can almost smell the sitka spruce and cedar trees. See my reflection in those still deep waters. I can remember the peace I felt as we watched bald eagles soar through the sky, spotted black-tailed deer graze along the coast, and stared at the seals lazying among the seaweed beds...all while in the arms of my sweet dear husband. I cannot have imagined a better way or a better place to ring in four years of marriage.
Oh, this will be quite an anniversary to remember.

    1. Ah, thanks girl. Yes, I definitely thought it would be years before we could swing this trip but it turned out to be more doable than we thought
