June Budget: Minimalism

After my "no buy" month in May, I kind of expected that I would go crazy with this month's budget, especially since June is my birthday. Somehow I managed to keep things under control. I guess it's because I've been entirely too busy to have time for the fun and frivolity associated with shopping. I was hesitant about lowering my clothing budget this year, but it seems that I've been doing well with the spending decrease, while still purchasing good quality clothes. Even though, I may not have bought very much this month, I certainly wasn't deprived either. I actually added a ton of pieces to my closet including a few new handbags and twirl worthy dresses, thanks to birthday goodies.

Nautica Cotton Twill Shorts 5"
Original $55 Purchased via TJMaxx $30
The only thing I did buy this moth were these pink Nautica shorts. If I could only make one purchase this month, I'm glad that it was these. I am obsessed with these shorts in every way. I wore them for the first time on our trip to Nantucket and they have become a summer staple for me ever since. I'm definitely considering picking up these exact shorts in another color since they're on sale right now.

Sorry that this budget post isn't a little more exciting to read, but I did share a different kind of budget this month. Revealing how much I spend on a shirt here or a skirt there has seemed like no big deal, but sharing how much it cost us to travel is on a whole different level because that involves quite a few more dollar signs. Regardless, I thought that it was important to share the ins and outs of how we saved money and used freebies to travel. I'm trying to decided whether or not I should make travel budgets a regular thing...

June Total: $30
Yearly Total $1500-$50 [January]-$160 [February]-$75 [March]-$317[April]-$0[May]-$30[June]=$858 remaining for the year

  2. There must be something in the air. It was my birthday this month as well, and I didn't splash out on any birthday gifts to myself either. Oh well, just means you have more of your annual budget to work with come the next big season change!

    1. Happy Birthday Cassie! I'm definitely excited about having so much to work with. We are halfway through 2015 and I still have more than half my original budget to work with. Plus Fall clothes are the best. Can't wait for the season to change

  3. I'd love to see more on travel budgeting and how you save up for trips. Travel is a huge part of our income too.

(And those shorts are the cutest!)
