Oh Quebec!
This city with it's cobblestone streets, dramatic châteaus, and gourmet cafés that is right in the heart of French Canada feels even more french than France does. I know that sounds crazy, but it's true.
Everywhere you turn there is a piece of history and culture. And while so many modern cities are losing that, Quebec revels in it. It's a slice of Europe right here in North America.
Since we only had a weekend, we focused our time in the Old City, this is where all of Quebec's history is concentrated and it has even retained remnants of the stone wall that once guarded the city. Please excuse the photo overload, it was too hard to choose only a few.
admiring these ruins & pretending like we can read French
window box game is strong
how adorable is this city? I never wanted to leave
parliament buildings and chateaus!
you can actually stay at this château if you're willing to pay at least $600 a night
out for a fancy dinner date!
this is rare when you're in a long distance marriage
I'm normally not a foodie and we tend to prioritize experiences over meals when we travel, but we ate so well in Quebec City. We ate some old favorites like crepes, poutine, and créme brülée. We also were adventurous eaters with trying some new things like veal liver, caribou, and sugar pie. Loved it all.
rainy days in the city
cutest brunch spot at Le Lapin Sauté (the jumping rabbit) that puts rabbit in every dish
a setting sun on mon trésors
Quebec City is filled with art at every turn, but this was by far the most clever thing we saw. When the water hits high tide, the canal boats appear to be floating along the water
eating well again!
Quebec City tastes like freshly baked crepes, macarons, and gourmet meals that I you've never tried
Quebec City sounds like French only, I loved how so many people spoke only French to us so that we had to adapt to the place instead of them adapting to tourists
Quebec City smells like maple sugar cappuccinos whose aroma fills all the gourmet cafés
Quebec City looks like the most colorful city that knows how to preserve its history
Quebec City feels like a piece of Europe that's just a short drive away
