Don't you just love long weekends? Especially with being in a long distance relationship, having a little extra time to visit over the weekend makes a big difference. We had a relaxing labor day weekend and spent our time catching up on work, napping, shopping, brunching, and museum hopping. But my favorite thing we did was kayak the Charles River in Boston.
This has been on our boston bucket list for as long as I can remember and we finally had the right timing and weather. For us Bostonians, the Charles Rivers runs through the center of it all. We kayaked the portion just below the Longfellow Bridge that links Boston and Cambridge.
Luckily, we made room for a third in our doubles kayak
PJ does so well in the kayak (see our tips for kayaking with a dog here), but he did attempt to get out and chase after these buoy balls. Ha! We always play fetch with tennis balls in the water during the summer and I think he was getting excited about these.
this city & those ears!
loved kayaking right under the Longfellow Bridge
We worked up quite an appetite and grabbed a bite with some local Indian food.
Then time to work off our meal with a walk around the waterfront
hanging at the boathouse
we need to spend more time here
We're only a few days into September and it's already been a crazy one. Thankful that I craved out some time with my boys because we managed to find the best views of the city 🚣
How fun! I want to do this at least once while we're here!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely recommend it, and there are surprisingly a ton of boston locations for rentals. They have canoes too, so the whole family could go.
