It's true what they say, "Virginia is for Lovers". At least, it's true for us. Because for the first time in our 5 year marriage, Tom and I have to place to call home TOGETHER.
At the end of August, Tom finished up his PhD and took a job in Virginia. With me being in North Carolina, him moving from Massachusetts to Virginia really helped to close the gap on the hundreds of miles that had been between us all these years. Suddenly, it was possible for us to see each other every weekend, which was amazing. And then, I began my senior year away rotations. And while these rotations do take me away from the dental school, they actually move me closer to my husband. So close that we are able to live together now.

While I have a nice long daily commute, it is worth it to come home to my husband everyday in the new home we are making for ourselves. We got a small loft apartment that sits directly on the Elizabeth River in the Chesapeake Bay area. Added bonus-we're right downtown! We are already loving Norfolk Virginia and exploring what the city of mermaids has to offer.
The way that things have lined up of us to be together after all this time apart-it feels like it's meant to be. We have spent more of our relationship apart than together with dating long distance through college and being married long distance through grad school.
So for us, Virginia will always be that special place that finally brought us together again.
Virginia is for Lovers!

ReplyDeletethank you so much. And I am honestly shocked by how great these photos turned out myself since they were so impromptu.
