We had an unconventional Christmas this year with spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day traveling into the Sahara Desert in Africa. Never did I ever imagine that I would be passing the holiday in this way.
There were no Christmas trees or stockings to be found, but spending the day amongst the Berber people of Morocco and camping underneath the stars was the experience of a lifetime. We spent 3 days traveling to and through the Sahara Desert, leaving from Marrakesh Morocco and finishing our journey in Fes Morocco. This little adventure gave us the best chance to see so much more of the country and its people and culture. When traveling, its normally easiest to just hit the big cities where everything is easy and accessible. Even though getting this excursion organized to travel into the desert was a big added expense and stressor, it was so worth it to be riding camels through one of the most amazing landscapes in the world. I will never forget the amazing sunset and sunrise that we enjoyed for christmas by camelback. I’m just getting organized now with going through and editing the hundreds of photos we took, but I cannot wait to share more from this incredible adventure.
