January Clothing Budget-A Month of Staples

This month, I picked up quite a few pieces that I had been hoping to find for a while now. You know those items that will be signature pieces so you want to wait until you find the perfect match for you.

1. Workout Gear Total $43

I am much more motivated to workout when I feel good in what I'm wearing so I took advantage of the after Christmas sales to get some warm clothes since I prefer to run outside. I scored big with some items from Dick's sporting goods. What I got?

  • Reebok Ombre Leggings: Aren't they beautiful? They were marked down from $55 to $17 and I paid for these with a gift card.
  • Koppen Pullover: This is the first item that I have bought from this line, and I will definitely be a repeat customer. It is the warmest running top I have, I literally took if off one day running outside in January because I was so warm. Also, it has thumb holes to help keep it in place and it is incredibly soft. So soft that I have worn it to bed. This was marked down from $55 to $18 which I paid for out of pocket.
  • Nike Dri-Fit Short Sleeve Shirt: Marked down from $22 to $11. I also paid for this item with a gift card.
  • Nike Dri-Fit Baseball Cap (not pictured): $10

The Calm Before the Storm

Shirt: J Crew Factory Placed Lace Tee
Pencil Skirt: Ann Taylor Outlet
Blazer: Gap Academy Ponte Blazer in Tweed
Accessories: Fossil Watch, Banana Republic Slider Bracelet

Even though it's January, when I woke up this past Tuesday it felt more like March. It was so warm out that I could completely ditch the winter gear-no coat, scarves, hats, or gloves. A jacket would do. And as I am completely over this winter weather I was thrilled. So I decided it would be the perfect time for me to break out my new Gap Ponte Blazer (still available-and on sale). I have always loved the look of blazers, but never felt that I could find any that fit into my style the way I want. However this blazer has the combination of the perfect fit, tweed, and the cute polka dots lining the interior so I could not resist. So I decided to enjoy the warm weather and wear this blazer as my jacket for the day.

Tights: Hue
Shoes: Calvin Klein
And then the very next day it began snowing. Now, I lived up North for five years and I have had my fair share of driving in snow and ice, but here in NC the city completely shuts down when it snows this much. Even though the roads are now passable-tomorrow will mark Day 3 of no classes for me. So even though I hate the cold-this week I'm onboard for the winter weather. Bring on the snow!
