Lilly, Lilly, & More Lilly

Hello lovelies, did you all enjoy the after holiday sales? I ordered quite of few things for myself. Unfortunately, many of them didn't work. But I did score big at the most important sale of all...the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale. It only happens twice a year and you never really know what's going to be in the sale and what won't. Luckily, the shift dress that I have been coveting for months was there, along with a whole lot more!

The Boring Professional

As a woman entering a career where professional attire is expected, I've had to learn how to dress a certain way. I traded in my mini skirts for pencil skirts and eliminated all of those oh so revealing tops. Like many, I intially thought that a plain black suit with a white button-up shirt was the way to go, but oh the times they are a changing. I've learned that dressing professionally doesn't have to mean being boring. And thank goodness too because who the hell wants to wear black, navy, and beige everyday?

If at First You don't Succeed....

If you didn't get accepted this time around, don't fret. It just means that you have a little more work to do. But do know that you are not alone in this, especially with regards to dentistry. With so few dental schools in this country only offering a few spots, it's common to have to apply multiple times. As someone who has had the opportunity to be on both sides of the application process, I'd like share my advice on what to do if you didn't accepted...

Quinoa, Snap Peas, & Feta Cheese

I love love love to bake, which would suggest that I like to cook too. Well I don't, I hate it. So while it seems that I have shared several recipes with you for some of my favorite sweet treats, I haven't shared as many dinner recipes. Lately, I have been trying to spice things up and experiment with more options at home. I've recently fallen in love with quinoa and have been incorporating it wherever I can. Here is my recipe for quinoa salad. And the best part is that you could easily adapt this to include any veggies that you please.

Notes from an Interracial Marriage

Happy MLK Day Everyone!

I've been thinking about writing this post for a while now and today seems like the perfect day to share it. On a day where we celebrate a man who devoted his life to equal treatment for African Americans; it's another opportunity for husband and I to celebrate our marriage.

Comfy-Cozy

I'm in Boston visting Husband this weekend and brrrrr-is it cold. Cold enough to stop me from venturing outside in these near freezing temperatures. So today's outfit post called for indoor photos as I try to stay comfy-cozy!

BlackOut>>

I don't know what it is, but lately I have been attracted to darker hues. No worries, I'm not exactly trading in my Kate Spade or Lilly Pulitzer just yet, but I am expanding my style. Something that I love about getting dressed is that you can have one personality one day and something completely different the next. For me, it's about more than just putting on something to wear. It's about expressing how I feel.

Why I Chose to Become a Dentist

In my lack of motivation to study today, I began surfing the internet...only to stumble upon this article. Apparently dentists have been announced as the best job to have for 2015. Well if that wasn't enough motivation to get my butt into gear, then I don't know what is. The U.S. News describes dentistry as a low stress job with high rewards: 4 day work weeks, high paying salaries, and low unemployment rates. While these are all wonderful perks of the field of dentistry, that's just skimming the surface. So I felt inspired to share my own reasons for why I think dentistry is the best career and why I chose this path for myself.

Resolutions 2015

After such a busy December, I have been taking a few days for myself to get things in order before my Spring semester of dental school begins tomorrow. I've also been doing some inner reflection...every year I take the time to write out my New Year's Resolutions and I like to revisit them regularly to ensure that I'm hitting my goals. Sometimes the specifics get revised as I grow and change throughout the year, but the overall goal remains the same. This year's list is short, but so very very important.
Here's to a Happy 2015!
