Thanksgiving 2014

I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, mine was spent with my husband and inlaws. The holiday officially started for me when dental school ended on Tuesday evening. I planned to make the 5 hour drive to my inlaws Wednesday morning, but the threat of snow (my inlaws live in the mountains) pushed me to leave earlier than expected. My amazing hubby had flown into an airport about 2 hours from his parents home. He was worried about me having to drive in the mountains at night so insisted that his parents not pick him up from the airport as planned. Instead he waited there for an additional 3 hours while I drove to the airport. Then he drove the rest of the way to our parents home. How sweet is he?

A Day in the Life of a Dental Student

Fabricating Dentures

I'm going to do things a little bit differently then my September or October Day in the Life posts. We're going to skip the usual fluff & just focus on the dental experience of a second year student. We have started learning how to make dentures and while it is exciting, it's also excruciatingly time consuming.

November Budget

I did a little outlet shopping this month so between that and all the sales, I found some really good picks. I love the pieces I got, but it completely wiped out what was left of my yearly clothing budget. Totally worth it though.

Silver Toed Wingtips

Like any girl, I am totally guilty of planning full outfits around a pair of shoes. Only this time, it wasn't a pair of killer stilettos or some adorable pumps. It was these silver toed wingtips.

With the end of my last full week of school before Thanksgiving break finally here, I thought that this would be a great time to reflect on all the good in my life right now and do a Friday Five so here goes...

Give Hope: Operation Christmas Child

The holiday season is upon us folks and I couldn't be happier. While we should practice good will towards our neighbors everyday, we all take things for granted sometimes. But now it's time to take a moment and really appreciate what you have. Not only that, it's time to focus on helping and giving to others. One of the things that I'm most thankful for this year is that Tom and I have been blessed with the spirit in our hearts to participate in Operation Christmas Child...a wonderful organization that improves the lives of well deserving kids.

Sweater Weather?

I should totally be freezing my butt off with no coat or tights on, but by the time I walked from my front door to my car, I realized it was time to ditch them both. I typically love autumn weather because it's so cool-not too hot and not too cold. But this year, each day is completely different from the next. Yesterday the high was 34 and today I don't even need a jacket. I'm beyond trying to figure this whole weather thing out. I'm just going to roll with it.

Countdown!

This is my last full week of school before Thanksgiving break and I am counting down the days! Counting down to seeing my husband again. Counting down to dinner with my family. And I'm definitely counting down to 3 full days off of school. It's not much, but I'll take it.

Dearest Fall

Dear Caramel Apple Spice, we seem to be meeting a lot lately. I couldn't be happier about that fact because you taste best this time of year.

Dearest squash, you haven't gotten enough attention from me this season, but don't worry there is still plenty of time to change that. Butternut is my favorite, but I think I need more acorn and spaghetti squash in my life

Pumpkin Turkey Chili

It's getting pretty cold out, but it's still Fall which means that there is plenty of time for yummy recipes featuring squash, pumpkin, and sweet potatoes. Here is a quick chili that I made recently. It's on the healthy side because it uses lean turkey and it also has a fun autumn twist as one of the main ingredients is pumpkin. If I really love something, I just have to share it. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

Thank you to everyone who helped me in recognizing National Dental Hygiene Month by participating in my giveaway for a sonicare toothbrush. I love dentistry and I especially care about promoting public oral health so I loved hosting this giveaway. Now, it's time for the fun part..announcing the winner.

Pattern Play with Polka Dots

We only have a handful of classes today and as it's Friday, I really was looking for something casual. I think I hit the nail on the head with this ensemble. These pants are probably pushing our dress code a bit, but I dressed it up with a polka dot blouse and a pearl necklace.

October in Review

Well another month has ended and it seems to me like it completely flew. I seriously can't believe that it's well into November already. I wanted to just step back and take a minute to reflect on all that I did this past month.

Put a Bow on It!

Lately, I've been completely obsessed with bows and I have been feeling especially inspired by this sweater that I picked up last month. As you can tell, this obsession has taken over just a little bit. But can you blame me? Bows are just sooo freakin adorable. It makes me happy just to be writing this post right now.
