Snapshots [05-15-15]

Lately it seems that every week is bursting with things that need my attention...to-do lists to complete, errands to run, patients to treat. Every Monday, I feel a little overwhelmed wondering how everything is going to get done because the days are flying by way too fast. How are we already halfway through May? With all this chaos, it's more important than ever to remember to pause and acknowledge all the little things. And Friday seems like the perfect time to do so....on that note, here are a few Snippets from my week.

New Sneaks
Today started out the way that every Friday should...with a calming morning run and it was the perfect way to kick start the weekend. Plus, it gave me a chance to break in my new running shoes! I can't even describe how utterly peaceful for me it is to jog alongside the rising sun. The only way that it could have been better is if PJ had been able to jog along with me, but that dog only has two speeds:
1. Run as Fast as Possible
and
2. Sleep

Blooms
I was rushing out the door, in a hurry as usual, but these bold blooms stopped me dead in my tracks. How had I not noticed these beauties before? They are literally flowering right outside my door! These were the perfect reminder to turn off my tunnel vision. Otherwise, I might be so focused on getting things done that I may miss out on an opportunity to appreciate and admire something as lovely as these.

Missing Coffee?
Did I mention to you guys that I gave up coffee? Well not completely because that would be insane, but now I limit myself to only a cup or two a week. I got to a point where I was guzzling down far too many cups of cream filled coffee throughout the day. For the sake of my waistline, I reigned in my coffee addiction. When I do need an energy boost,  I reach for a cup of tea. It's much healthier and is already naturally flavored, meaning that I rarely need to add anything to my tea. But even if I do, I think it's safe to say that lemon and honey are much healthier than the cream and sugar (and whipped cream too!) that was going into my daily cups of Jo. Added bonus...I have an excuse to use my pretty pink teacups.

 Snail Mail
When I was a little kid, I loved getting the mail. I would eagerly run out to meet the "mail man". And on days when I actually got something, [aka my parents let me keep a catalogue of some sort], I was ecstatic. I felt so grown-up. Nothing has changed. All of my dental school friends know that I try to avoid staying after school because I need to be home by 6pm to check for packages before my apartment office closes. And yesterday, this pretty little Birchbox was waiting for me. I'm most excited to try out this hair oil

Tropical!
Well if I can't actually be sitting on a sandy beach with clear waters drinking from a coconut, then at least I can pretend. Coconut water is my newest obsession. And I'm loving this version, which adds a hint of pineapple.

Wriggly Little Ones
At my dental school, we have 2 sets of rotations. The seniors are currently out rotating within the community for 6-9 weeks at a time. As a junior, I'm doing the first set of rotations where I will be in our specialty clinics located inside the school. This week, I was in our pediatric clinic. Didn't expect my first experience with pulling teeth to involve a wriggly little kiddo, but hey you gotta go with it. As to be expected, there was some crying involved (don't worry, they weren't in any pain), but I think that I was even more nervous than the little one.

Those were some of my favorite moments from this crazy hectic week. How did your week go?

    1. Haha I didn't want to give up coffee either, but all the cream and sugar I was putting in it was making me gain weight. I definitely get my caffeine fix with the dark teas though
