Birthday Tea

Over the years, the husband and I have gradually started to move away from giving each other traditional gifts. This year, I told him that I wanted absolutely no presents for my birthday. Instead I wanted to celebrate with experiences.
We're already celebrating with a trip to Maine later this month, but on my actual birthday, Tom took me to Provincetown Cape Cod (more on this soon). I knew we were headed to Provincetown, but first we made a surprise detour. We stopped in the cute town of Sandwich where there's a 250 year old traditional English tea house. Seriously adorable.
Tom knows that I love "going to tea" and I even have my own collection of tea cups, so this was the perfect birthday surprise. And this spot was too cute.
Who needs birthday cake when you can have a whole tray of treats? Looking forward to the rest of this month and all the birthday treats.

  1. What a cute spot to celebrate your birthday and I agree those treats are better than cake!

  2. Such an awesome surprise detour, especially since you love tea-houses so much! The place is absolutely beautiful. And I agree, I'd definitely opt for those treats instead of cake any day, unless of course it's ice cream cake!

    1. Haha I feel like ice-cream is the only one that ever gets finished.

  3. Happy Birthday!!! I love that idea of sharing experiences. It takes away the pressure. When was it btw?!

    1. My birthday was June 8th, so a Wednesday this year. I'll get some sort of birthday post up when we're finally done with all the celebrations. And Tom 100% agrees about having the pressure off. At this stage in life, I'd rather we spend money to do something together than for him to go out and just search for things to buy me that I probably don't need anyway
