death valley national park

Welcome to the hottest place on Earth! ☀️ 🌏
Lucky me, I got to visit with the hottest guy I know. 💍
And lucky for both of us that we visited during late winter when the temperatures are still tolerable.

If I’m being honest, we were there to check off a box since we’re on a mission to visit all of America’s National Parks. We really weren’t expecting too much from visiting the hottest, driest, lowest point in the continental US. But it turned out that Death Valley is a bit of a show-stopper and is easily one of my favorites of the 20 national parks that we’ve visited so far. Here are just a few of the highlights from our day.

Zabriskie’s Point
Our first stop in the park was also our favorite because it was so unexpected.

You wouldn’t think that the desert could be so beautiful.

The Artist’s Palette

It was a real treat to find this these pretty hills in the desert that are colored all different shades of pink and purple and blue. During the period of volcanic eruptions that formed these, varying elements were deposited to create the palette of colors that we now see today.

love that the intensity of the hues appear differently based on position of the sun, so every visit is unique

The Devil’s Golf Course

Next up, we stopped in for a game at the Devil’s Golf Course. It looks like a giant field full of white golf balls that goes as far as the eye can see. The rocks here are covered by beautiful white formations of salt crystals, hence its name!

Badwater Basin
Our last stop in the park was to visit the lowest point in the US that is 282 feet below Sea Level. Pretty amazing!

The national park system never lets us down with providing the best unique landscapes and experiences. And it came through once again with showing us how stunning even a desert can be.
