While we spent our days in Iceland soaking in geothermal
pools, riding Icelandic ponies, and hiking through lava tube caves; our nights
were spent chasing after the northern lights.
Having a chance to see the northern lights was one of the biggest factors for us with visiting Iceland during the winter because they are only visible from September to mid-April. And with only 3 nights in Iceland, we had a pretty tight window, but thankfully we found them.

When I look at these photos, I still feels so surreal to know that we were there and had the opportunity to witness this natural phenomenon. The northern lights are one of those wonders that we all know about, but few of us have the opportunity to actually see these brilliant lights.
I am beyond grateful to add this bucket list item into my little treasure chest of "wow moments" and incredible experiences. Definitely worth staying up all night even after long days to witness this.
Wow. This is incredible. My boyfriend and I have a layover (only an hour...sigh) in Iceland on our way to Paris this October and I have a feeling we're going to want to get back there for an actual visit soon.
ReplyDeleteWe're already planning to go back, probably as a layover to Europe. Paris in the fall will be amazing
DeleteThis is so amazing!! I can only imagine how surreal it felt. What month did you visit in? Sierra~Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteWe visited late November/early December. I think it was the best time to see the lights because its harder to see them in the spring, but january/febraruary would have been far too cold to sit outside at night
