Hello from Las Vegas!

We’re currently road-tripping through the west coast for spring break. We’ve already seen so many amazing things and had so many unique experiences that I know there will be lots to share from this trip. So, I’m attempting to blog in real time to kick off sharing our adventures sooner.

We began our great southwest road trip in Vegas of course! And the experience that I was looking forward to most was the Neon Sign Museum. Happy to say that it did not disappoint.

The Neon Museum is an open-air museum that houses some of the most iconic neon signs from the city over the years. Neon lights are really what put Vegas on the map, so it’s great to see that they are preserving that history. When an influential neon sign is retired, it’s sent to the neon boneyard to die. Only, it doesn’t die at all, it lives on forever here. Viva Las Vegas!

love this sign for the golden nugget casino that highlights the year of the city’s inception in 1905 

I felt so drawn to this classic “moulon rouge” sign and was impressed to find out that this casino actually played a significant role in desegregation in Vegas when it became the first casino to welcome black performers and guests 

the skull from treasure island! it's just too bad the skull's teeth aren't accurate, the future dentist in me couldn't help but to be a little bummed about that

The Neon Boneyard really was a highlight of our time in Vegas. It’s reminiscent of classic Vegas and the incredible history here. I feel so grateful to have had the opportunity to witness such an iconic part of the city through its typography.
