Budgeted!

There's been a whole lot of money talk on this little blog lately. Yesterday I shared our travel budget for what we spent in California (or rather how much we saved). And today I'm linking up with budgeting bloggers to share my October clothing purchases.

Bean Boots// Original $98

Bow Tee// Original $40 on Sale for $20 + Gift Card $0

Ankle Pants// Original $90 on Sale for $30

Leather Booties// Original $140 on Sale for $70

October Total: $198
Considering that I bought two pairs of leather boots this month, I think that I did well with my October spending. Plus, I've been really enjoying incorporating all of these new pieces into my wardrobe.

Yearly Total $1500-$50[January]-$160[February]- $75[March]- $317[April]-$0[May]-$30[June]-$110[July]-$170[August/September]-$198[October]=$380 remaining for the year

Based on my yearly clothing budget, I'm sitting pretty to stay on target for the year. As long as I don't make any big purchases in the next couple of months, I will stay within my budget. Let's see how it goes.

  2. I love those pants (I've been really into berry shades this fall), and that bow top is super cute too! I love how you put them together! :)

    1. Thanks Mattie! I'm definitely starting to treat this whole budgeting thing as a personal challenge. It's fun to see the quality of pieces that I can get within the price range that I want.

    1. You can't be a good pair of leather boots so they are worth splurging for but I was happy to find them on sale.

  5. Thanks for commenting on my budget post about your experience with LL Bean boots. I could really use your advice. So I usually wear size 6, sometimes even 5.5. The smallest size LL Bean has is size 6. How much extra room would you guess your boots have with thin socks? If you wore thin socks, would you need to go half a size smaller, full size smaller, or more? I'd go try them on, but I won't be near a store for some time. Thanks!

    1. I totally understand your concerns and if you're ordering them online, I wouldn't want you to have to deal with returns. Based on reviews, I thought I would have to size down too. I was all prepared to order a smaller size, but I took my normal size. My shoe size is pretty consistent regardless of the shoe type or brand. I almost always a Size 8 in shoes. Only occasionally will I go down half a size for a pair of flats where I want them to fit tighter and will never wear socks. I went with my regular size in the Bean Boots. There is an inch or so of additional room at the toe. The Bean Boots don't come in half sizes so going down a whole size was too tight for me. I stuck with my normal size but I was worried that the shoe would be too loose with thin socks and that they might trip me up when walking. This has not been a problem at all! I've been wearing the shoe with thin socks and I haven't even noticed the extra space. I got the 8'' tall boots so the shoe hugs your ankle and part of your lower leg. Also, remember that this is a leather boot. While it is a very structured shoe, the leather is also very soft and conforms really well around your foot and leg. So to answer your question, even with thin socks, I wouldn't size down. I'm actually very thankful to have the extra space because I have the option to wear thick wool socks with these boots and they still fit me comfortably. If you are usually a Size 6, then I think that you would be perfectly safe to order the Bean Boots in a Size and not have problems. If you have any other questions about them, feel free to ask me. Hopefully this helped.

  6. I LOVE those pants! Wine is my favorite color and I pretty much try any way I can to where it in the fall (when it's acceptable) but haven't found a good pair of pants yet. You've definitely inspired me to keep looking!

    1. I always have trouble finding pants that work for me too (because I'm short). I definitely got lucky with these.
