Double the Merriment: A Second Christmas

Blogmas Day 27 & 28

Hey folks, I'm combining yesterday and today into one post. I'm sick as a dog right now and spent a good bit of yesterday in bed, but I definitely wanted to share more of our Christmas celebrations. Having each set of parents live in different states has disadvantages, including having to alternate for the holidays, but on the plus side we do get two Christmases. And I do love Christmas. After spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with my parents, we headed to hubby's parents house on the 26th. Here's a little bit of the fun...

Love my cute little family!

We arrived just in time for the most amazing dinner feast of "Surf n' Turf": giant king crab legs and steak covered in a mushroom cream sauce. It was literally a dinner full of my favorite things, not to mention Mom's yummy cranberry-orange  garnish that we also had at the tastiest Thanksgiving

And after dinner, we all got comfy by the fire, especially Ms. Penny Lane.

Cheers to a Merry Christmas!

Time to open presents!

PJ decided to help!

I think that my BIL Brian loved the gift we gave him....a new expansion pack to everyone's favorite
game of Seven Wonders. Looking forward to
lots of family game nights while we are here.

And I got the most beautiful sewing machine! If you're wondering, the answer is no, I have no idea how to sew, but I have been dying to learn. My amazing MIL is going to give me some starter tips and I'm planning on taking a class and watching a ton of YouTube videos to figure out how my new Singer works...didn't even know they made sewing machines with computers in them!

I spy a curious little pup that's up to no good!

We love mom so much and everything that she does for all us so we definitely loved spoiling her with gifts this year. I think that she loved her new Coach Boots!

The CUTEST Husband!

Merry Christmas

  2. That sewing machine is a fantastic gift! I grew up with a mom who sews and it's definitely a great skill to have in a home. You can hem your own pieces, making curtains, pillow cases the list goes on. Whip up table cloths, costumes for kids all kinds of things. She even tailored my white coat over break. I definitely should pick this up too over the summer. You'll be able to find all kinds of patterns for simple clothing pieces, easy skirts, totes, tunics. Btw you should check out Jean at Extra Petite. She has some nice sewing tutorials sometimes, pretty "easy" stuff and she has the best style!

    1. Yes Ele, at minimum I want to be able to hem and take in my own clothes. Within the first few days of having it, I mended some things for husband instead of paying someone else to do it. On the next level, I would love to be able to make my own decorative things and when it comes times for husband and I to have kids I would love to be able to make their baby blankets and things like that for myself...you should definitely pick this up Ele...then we can be sewing buddies
